- I called my parents to inform them that I had gotten accepted to San Fransisco State and they weren't as happy as I thought they would be. My dad misinterpreted the concept of me getting accepted to that school. He thought that by me going to that school it meant that I was already choosing to attend it. The reason he didn't like the idea of me going to that school is due to the fact that it's not that close to home and he wants me closer to my siblings. He has no idea that I plan on living in the dorms in whatever school I choose to attend yet I haven't told them yet because I know their going to disagree. I want to see how many scholarships I can get and if it's just too expensive, then I'll live at home. Nobody in my family understands how great it was for me to get admitted to this school. Their expressions were more like "ok". I told my brother about it and he said not to be so happy because my parents were never going to let me go to a state school so to not even think about living in the dorms. I got really upset because instead of encouraging me, their doing the opposite.
- I am thrilled to say that I completed my FAFSA application on Thursday and sent it off to all the colleges. I now have one less thing to worry about! I am very thankful that there are a lot of days available in school to get help to fill that application out because I needed a lot of help. I would've had no idea how to even start without all the support of everyone in this school. Now, I need to start writing and applying for scholarships. I keep on moving it to another day and I should really start those because times goes by so quickly. P.S. I'm failing math analysis and I'm terrified.
I am sad to read that your family's reactions weren't what you thought they would be. That is always difficult. They will come around, I am sure. It sounds like you have a plan - just make sure to keep everyone in the loop as much as possible.
